70 Die Of Meningitis in Niger Republic

Due to the meningitis outbreak in Niger Republic, 76 had to lose their lives (out of 1,049 cases) to the disease. An health official stated this on Friday.
 Meningitis is known as a serious disease in which there is inflammation of the meninges (meninges are protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord), caused by viral or or bacterial infection, and marked by intense headache and fever, sensitivity to light and muscular rigidity.
 According to Niger Republic's Health Ministry, it affected mostly those aged between five to fourteen. They also added that, in a bid to fight the epidemic which came in January, the government has distributed drugs in hospitals across the country to treat any suspected case.
