Facebook, one of the world's most popular social media platform, has brought in a recent development, which uses a machine learning technology that recognizes objects in pictures and translates it to sound.
This was stated by Matt King, the accessibility specialist for Facebook. Matt King said "As Facebook becomes an increasingly visual experience, we hope our new automatic alternative text technology will help the blind community experience Facebook the same way others enjoy it".
Apple iOS software was used to test this new feature, and Facebook planned to expand the capability to devices with other OSs and also add more languages, because it was tested using English language.
Matt  King also added "While this technology still nascent, tapping its current capabilities to describe photos is a huge step towards  providing our visually impaired community the same benefits and enjoyment that everyone else gets from photos".
The kind of words that could be described with the software includes those that are related to sports, food, transportation, outdoor settings and also people's appearances.
