FG Initiates Legal Action Against Shell, Saying The Oil Spillage Caused Damages To Communities

The legal action against Shell was initiated by the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, which according to them was for the interest of fishermen and the people from the 350 communities and satellite villages affected by the Bonga crude oil spillage.
 According to the affidavit sworn by NOSDRA, the Federal Government is also demanding additional N884 billion as compensation for the oil spill, another N495 billion as restitution and restoration of the devastation of the economic zone of the Nigerian territorial waters and N50 million as cost of the legal action.
