As Micheal Ikpokpi, the former MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer resigned in December 2015, Footprint2africa stated that MTN provided the former CEO with N350 million ($1.8 million) as "Exit

package."
They said the exit package includes his salary and post-employment benefits, after his December resignation.
 Why Did He Resign ?
It  has being rumored that the former CEO's exit was as a result MTN's $5.2 billion fine to NCC (Nigeria Communications Commission) for failing to disconnect 5.1 million subscribers who didn't undergo the proper SIM registration procedure.
MTN said the Nigerian fine has "eroded investor confidence in MTN Nigeria and the group as a whole, and negatively impacted the reputation of MTN across our stakeholder groups" they lamented.
