Federal Govenment Makes Plan To Develop Tomato Policy-Minister

The Ministry of  Industry,Trade and Investment has stated that the Federal Government is to develop a tomato policy in order to address the tomato scarcity problems in the sub-sector.



 This was stated by the Minister of State for Industry,Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar on Tuesday in a stakeholders meeting in Abuja.
 While speaking she said "This meeting was convened in response to the curent scarcity of tomatoes in the county occassioned by the outbreak of the tomao moth 'tuta absoluta'."


 She added that "We all came together to chat a way foward. The major desicion we have taken is to develop a tomato policy  under our National Industrial Revolution Progamme."
 "A technical committee that would wok on the policy darft should take-off nextweek, so that we would have an appoved plan in place before the next tomato season."
