Nigerian Mothers Should Breastfeed Their Infants For At Least Six months-Health Minister

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has stressed that Nigerian women should cultivate the habit of breastfeeding their babies for at least six months.




 The Minister stated this at a forum in Abuja were international agencies and also state Commissioners of Health conversed on how to promote proper breastfeeding of children in the country.
 Mr. Nigel Rollons, a representative from the World Health Organisation stated that only 37% of mothers in the world breastfeed their babies exclusively.
 He said Nigeria was one of the countries that drives the growth of breast milk substitute companies.
 The Health Commissioner stressed that women who don't breastfeed their babies , expose themselves to cancer and other diseases.
