At a contract signing ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has reviewed the expected budget for the Lagos-Calabar railway project. The amount for the contract was meant to be $11.917 billion but now it's $11.117 billion.

The reason for the reduction, according to Mr. Amaechi is that the cost of materials to carryout the project has become cheaper, and that the $11.117 billion will be sustainable to carryout the project.
He added that the reviewing of the funds for the project won't make the project less qualitative.
