FRSC Makes Plans To Impound Vehicles Using Expired And Substandard Tyres

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Monday, stated that vehicles using expired and substandard tyres in Nigeria would be impounded.

 The FRSC Boss, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, stated this at a forum hosting stakeholders, the theme of the event was "Promoting Good Tyre Use In Nigeria", the meeting was held at Abuja.
 Mr Boboye said in the forum, that most of the road crashes the FRSC has recorded between February 2016 till date has being related to tyre faults.

 He said many drivers ignore the use and management of tyres.
 He said "This is going to be done without fine but the driver will use money to go and buy genuine tyres with receipt, before he would be allowed to continue his journey".
 He discussed with manufacturers, to make ways in which standard tyring manufacturing plants could be brought to Nigeria, due to the fact that Dunlop and Michelin tyre brands, were shut down and which exposes many Nigerians to buy fake tyres.
