Nigeria"s Aviation Auhority Warns Against The Use Of Unauthorised Drones

The NCAA, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has given a statement against the use of unauthorised drones (Remoted Piloted Aircraft) in Nigerian airspace without their permission and also a permit from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

 This was revealed to NAN in a statement by the General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, Sam Aurogboye on Sunday in Lagos state.

 Drones in this context refers to an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), in a form of a small aircraft without a human pilot in it. It is controlled using a remote control from the operator or through the use of a computer.

About The Statement
 It said "In recent times, RPA/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) are being deployed for commercial and recreational purposes in the country, without adequate security clearance."
 The statement said,,the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is yet to publish Standards and Recommended Practices, SARPs as far as certification and operation of civil use of RPA is concerned.
