The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Gida Mustapha as the new Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

 He is to replace Barrister Danladi Ibrahim, the approval statement was signed by a representative from the Office of the Secretary General of the Federation.

 This comes after the President appointed Mr. Ibrahim Kpotum Idris as the new Inspector General of Police who is taking over from Mr. Solomon Arase that attained the retirment age of 60 on June 21, 2016.

The new Inspector General of Police in his inauguration speech said, "the Nigerian Police Force will henceforth be guarded by the international core values o policing with integrity, ensuring that the rule of law prevailing in our actions and activities, and to strctly respect  diversity, courage, compassion and professionalism. The Nigerian Police would operate within the principles of democratic policing which is an institution that is responsive, representative and accountable to it's citizen at all times."
