We Don't Officially Grow Any Genetically Modified Organism In Nigeria-FG

 A statement by the Minister of Environment, Mrs. Aminu Mohammed has cleared the air on the growing concerns about genetically modified organisms (GMO), saying that presently Nigeria does not grow any gentically modified organism officially.

 This was confirmed in a statement issued by Alhaji Isiaka Yusuf, Director Press, Federal Ministry of Environment, in Abuja. The Minister said that the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), etablished in 2015 under the Federal Ministry of Environment was charged to, among others, ensure proper regulation of modern biotechnological activities and gentically modified organisms so a sto protect the lives of Nigerians.

 Genetically modified organism are organisms whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering technique.
