Goods worth Millions Got Lost, As Fire Guts NBC Uyo

A fire incident that occurred on Wednesday night at the depot of the Nigerian Bottling Company office on Abak Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has made goods worth millions of naira to be lost but thanks to God as no life was lost.

 According to an eyewitness, Mr. Ekong Charles, the fire started from where the pallets were packed and engulfed the entire parking zone.”
He said it was the quick intervention of the fire fighters from the state fire services that prevented the fire from spreading to the office complex.
“In fact, it was so serious; if not for the quick intervention of the fire fighters it would have consumed the entire depot.
“Five trucks of fire fighting vehicles were brought to put out the fire.” Charles said.
 The Chief Fire Service Officer in Akwa Ibom, Mr Ndrake Ukpe said the cause of the fire was yet unknown and he also urged people to be careful in handling inflammable materials during the harmattan period.
“Fire does not just happen; it is caused by carelessness and fake electrical installations in our buildings.”
“We have organized seminars for people in the markets and advised them to stop storing fuel in their houses.”
“We are committed to ensuring that our department responses to fire calls within record time, so that there would be minimal loss recorded.” Mr. Ukpe said.”
