Medical Doctors In Ondo End Their Strike

The Ondo State Chapter of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has ended its 4 weeks old strike and ordered its members to resume work tomorrow.

According to them, the strike was due to non-payment of salaries for 6 months, this happened two weeks to the end of the tenure of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
 They decided to end their strike following the commitment of the present administration led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to clear their salaries latest by the end of June 2017.
Akeredolu, immediately been sworn-in met with the doctors and the health workers and appealed to them to call off the strike.
Addressing the media in Akure, the state capital, MDCAN Chairman, Dr. AdeniyI Aderoba observed that, “our members are going through the toughest of times as a result of unpaid accumulated salary arrears.
“That the suffering masses are at the receiving end of the withdrawal of services by our members.
“We hereby came to the conclusion that the al of services should be suspended effective from 8.00 a.m today.

“We took this decision, holding you in high esteem on your honour and with the assurances that we are fully committed to giving the state our best services”.
