Wind Destroys 30 Houses in Ogoja, Cross River

At least 200 people have being displaced as windstorm destroys 30 houses in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River.
It was reported that the buildings affected are located at Emankpa Ebong and other neighboring communities in Ekajuk, Ogoja located about 250 kilometers north of Calabar, the Cross River State capital and about 30 kilometers away from the central town of Igoli.

The storm, accompanied by heavy downpour also destroyed household properties with economic trees such as mangoes, oranges, pawpaw, plantain and pears with roofs blown off as well as walls torn down.
The situation according to residents is pathetic with the displaced person now residing with neighbors and relatives while some church members whose religious apartments were affected are currently worshiping under trees, shades and other inconvenient places.

The Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency, John Inaku when contacted assured that the list of affected persons will be forwarded to the Governor for intervention.
