Ecobank Shut down Branches and fires several workers in a bid to expand "Digitally"


Ecobank has announced its plan to close some branches and cut jobs as the Pan-Africa Lender moves up investments in the digital platforms, the CEO made this known on Wednesday.
The Chief Executive Officer Ade Ayeyemi who spoke to Reuters on the sidelines of the world economic Forum for Africa in Durban said the bank's plans to expand its mobile platforms would help deliver profits.
Adeyemi said "This means reducing our branch network, using technology to deliver to customers and processing transactions centrally.

"We believe that this business model can deliver profitability to our shareholders."
