Nigeria packed the whole medal in African Arm wrestling competition

Nigeria on Sunday won the African Armwrestling Championships with 19 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Ghana finished second with 10 gold, five silver and six bronze while Mali came third with eight gold, two silver and four bronze. Cameroon and Egypt were other countries at the competition.
The winners were presented with medals and other prizes.
Some of the athletes, who won medals for Nigeria, are Jacinta Umunakwe, Victoria Johnson and Olubode Fayowole, who won gold, while Adebukola Adeyanju, Ibiyeye Oluwabukola, Ime Ntuk and Femi Akinsanya won silver and Nneka Samuel and Lukmon Isa won bronze.
President of the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, Olatunji Jackson, commended the armwrestlers for their performances in the competition.
“The competition was tough because armwrestling is a very competitive sport in Africa. The sport is not  popular but it has been around for a long time,” he said.
“We are grateful to all those who supported us to make this competition a success. We hope to do more for the sport in the coming years.”

Ghana will host the next edition of the competition in 2018.
