The winter transfer window does not open until January 1, but clubs across Europe are busy planning to bolster their ranks.

Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the European newspapers and websites to bring you the latest transfer gossip and news from the continent.

Spain
Cristiano Ronaldo is agitating for a move away from Real Madrid after it became clear Florentino Perez, the club president, wanted to bring Neymar, the world's most expensive player, to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Paris Saint-Germain forward is reportedly interested in a return to Spain to play for Barcelona's main rivals but Ronaldo, who netted the winner in the Club World Championships, is not pleased by the reported pursuit.

Jese Rodriguez could be set for a return to Las Palmas, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, after failing to impress at Stoke City. The Paris Saint-Germain forward is on loan with the Premier League club but is not a regular starter and recently returned to Gran Canaria to visit his family. It is suggested a return there may suit all parties.
Germany
Bayern Munich are in the market for a backup striker to help share the load with Robert Lewandowski. The Bavarian giants have been linked with Hoffenheim's Sandro Wagner for several months but it is Nils Peterson, who spent time at the Bundesliga champions between 2011-2013, who is now reportedly a top target.
Renato Sanches could return to Bayern Munich prematurely after the German clubs sports director, Hasan Salihamidzic, revealed his development at the Premier League club hasn't been optimal.
Schalke have confirmed that defender Coke will join La Liga side Levante on loan until the end of the season. The 30-year-old signed from Sevilla in the summer of 2016 but has failed to really establish himself in Germany. (Kicker)

France

Ligue 1 leaders PSG want the Brazilian to replace Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore and Angel Di Maria while Jose Mourinho wants to bolster his attacking options going into the second half of the season.

Italy
Alex Sandro, a Chelsea transfer target during the summer months, is reportedly on Manchester United's radar with those at Old Trafford willing to sanction a £60m deal for the Brazilian. But the Italian champions are not blessed with options at left-back and Juve may well stand firm.
Inter Milan and Napoli are not just going head-to-head for the Scudetto, they're also battling it out for the signature of Simone Verdi. The 25-year-old attacker has impressed for Bologna, averaging a goal every three matches this campaign, and both clubs want to strengthen their attacking options.
