Man With Charms Arrested At Ekiti APC Governorship Primary Venue

Man With Charms Arrested
A man has been arrested at the venue of the Ekiti state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

He was first cautioned by security officials but was later apprehended when he appeared to be causing a nuisance.
After a thorough search, the charms which he tied around his waist were recovered from him.
In defence he said he was only trying to protect himself as he heard there was going to a shootout at the venue.
He also claimed to be a delegate.
Meanwhile, voting commenced shortly after the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee, Governor Tank Al-Almakura gave his address.
Speaking to the Media, he noted that lessons have been learned from the previous botched edition which is why the committee did everything necessary to ensure the process runs smoothly.

He said: “We have learnt so much from it (last week’s exercise) and that is why we have decided that this time around, we wouldn’t allow agents to come close to where the voting process is taking place”.
Also, reacting to the decision of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu to withdraw from the race, he said the senator was entitled to his own opinion which he respects.
Ojudu said he made the decision on the grounds of envisaged violence and in the interest of peace, after the previous exercise was marred.
He also declined to announce his support for any of the remaining aspirants.
The exercise has, however, come to an end on a peaceful note although a heavy rainfall earlier caused some delay.
Automatic delegates were made to cast their votes first (the category of delegates which include former governors and lawmakers, as well as elected officers), and then other delegates.
Also, as part of efforts to ensure a smooth running of the process delegates were being asked to leave the premises immediately after they cast their votes.
