Notorious cultist in Cross River
A suspected cultist on the Most Wanted list of the Nigerian Police, Nakanda Edet, a staff of Works Department at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH has been reported dead in Calabar, Cross River State capital.

According to Calabar Reporters, the suspect was at the University of Calabar during a reception organised by the institution’s management after the 2018 May Day celebration.
A Source alleged that the suspect had, at one time or the other been involved in cult related activities and was on the wanted list of the police.
Luck however, ran out of his way when, on a tip off, he was trailed to the institution during the reception by workers after the main event of the workers’ day.
Edet on sighting officers of the anti cultism team of the Nigeria Police who were heading in his direction, took to his heels for safety towards the backyard of the administrative block of UCTH.
An eyewitness who declined given his name said that the officers who chased after him suddenly returned to the car park area without the young man they chased.

The suspect was said to have jumped into a deep raven and died on the spot. “The policemen who chased him suddenly zoomed off through the back gate of the institution through the satellite town axis, the eyewitness said.
“Not long after, the lifeless body of Edet was discovered by some of the staff”.
The police however, confirmed the incident, but absolved its men of killing the young man.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP, Irene Ugbo said that the suspect had been on the wanted list of police over murder case which he was involved in.
She said when police got a tip off that he was at the reception ground in UCTH premises, the police went for him.
“On sighting the men of the anti cultism, he took to his heels. While police went after him, he fell down head long and died in the process”.
