The governor
of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has suspended Engr. Francis Orji, the
commissioner for Solid Minerals.
He was fired
for allegedly engaging in actions capable of bringing embarrassment to the
state government.
Umahi made
this known while briefing journalists in Abakaliki through the State
Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onwe at
the exco-chambers, government house.
Onwe was
flanked by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. Elizabeth Ogbaga,
Commissioner for Local government Rural Development, Barr. Samuel Okoronkwo and
the Head of Service, Hon. Chamberline Nwele.
He noted
that the Deputy Principal Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Obasi would immediately act
in place of the suspended Commissioner for 30 days.
The
commissioner revealed the preparedness of the state governor to honour one
David Nweke, a civil servant and an accountant in the Universal Basic Education
Board, UBEB, who recovered over N20 million for the state government.
On her part,
the commissioner for culture and Tourism Barr. Elizabeth Ogbaga pointed out
that the condition of the State owned Hotel in Afikpo would be revitalized and
revamped to ensure its profitability to the present administration.
Also, the
Head of Service, Mr. Chamberline Nwele stated that the present administration
would take care of all the expenses for the burial of the former Secretary to
the State Government, SSG, Fidelis Mbam, scheduled to hold on Friday at his
country home in Izzi local government area of the state.
