Former
Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke has predicted that France will win the
2018 World Cup in Russia on Sunday.
France will
trade tackles with Croatia on Sunday in all European final and Amuneke tipped
the former World champions to go home with the coveted prize.
The ex-Super
Eagles winger, who is a member of FIFA’s Technical Study Group, said that
France are the favorites to win the final because of their influential
midfielder, N’Golo Kanté.
”Each team
has a very strong midfield, there are also individually strong players in the
attack,” Amuneke was quoted as saying by Izvestia.
”But Croatia
does not have such a supporting midfielder as N’Golo Kante, able to close the
center of the field and prevent the opponent from turning around. Due to him,
the French are good defensively.”
Kante has
played ninety minutes in each of the six games contested by France in the 2018
World Cup.
France have
not won the World Cup since 1998 but reached the final in 2006 where they lost
to Italy on penalties.
On the other
hand, Croatia, are playing in their first final ever.
