Governor of
Benue State, Samuel Ortom has reacted to the sack of the Director-General of
the Department of State Security Services, DSS, Lawal Daura.
Osinbajo, on
Tuesday, fired Daura after a meeting with him and the Inspector-General of
Police, Ibrahim Idris, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The two
security chiefs, who arrived Aso Rock at different times, were to update the
acting president on security developments, including the invasion of the
National Assembly by security officials.
Reacting to
Daura’s dismissal, Ortom praised Osinbajo for taking such step.
In a
statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Ortom called on the
presidency to look into other security agencies the way it sacked Daura.
The
statement read in part: “The sack of the DSS Director General was long
expected, following the manner he ran the Service.
“It was
necessary to also look into operations of other security agencies to save the
country from the current wave of impunity.”
Governor
Ortom had earlier today, condemned the invasion of the National Assembly by men
of the Nigerian Police Force and the DSS.
