Joachim Low launches fresh attack on Arsenal star Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil
German head coach, Joachim Low has said that Mesut Ozil has disappointed him on a human level after he failed to contact him in person following his decision to make himself unavailable for the international squad.

Ozil, along side Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan, were heavily criticised after they posed for a photo together with Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Germany.
The Arsenal star, who is of Turkish descent, subsequently opted to retire from international football following Germany’s early group stage exit in Russia, claiming he had been subjected to racist abuse and stating he was ‘German when we win but … an immigrant when we lose’.
Speaking further, Low insists that he has attempted to reach out to Ozil, whose claims have been rejected by his now former international teammates Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos, but his calls have fallen on deaf ears.
“I expected him to call me, that he would call me personally and tell me,” Low told ZDF after a scoreless draw with France in the Nations League on Thursday.
“So that’s why I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed with him on human terms. We’ve been together for many years.” He said.
