The Movement
for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Thursday, said
it was not involved in any brawl with members of the Indigenous People of
Biafra, IPOB, over its call for a sit-at-home on Friday, September 14.
The denial
came after one Kenneth Okwudili, who reportedly spoke for Nsukka zone (Enugu
North) of MASSOB, had distanced the group from the IPOB’s order.
However, the
Enugu State coordinator of MASSOB, Comrade Dan Onyebuchi, in a statement
maintained that it had no such person as spokesman.
Onyebuchi
said, “MASSOB authoritatively wishes to clear the deceiving statements that we
have Kenneth Okwudili in Nsukka as MASSOB zonal coordinator. Such a person does
not speak for MASSOB unless he belongs to another group, which is not MASSOB.
“MASSOB under
the leadership of Comrade Uchenna Madu is not against the one-year remembrance
of the invasion of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family house by the Nigeria military men.
“We view
every programme or activity on Biafra as part of refreshing and revival of
Biafra Actualization and restoration.”
He added
that, “MASSOB is more concerned and deeply involved in visitations,
consultations and unification of all pro-Biafra groups under one coalition and
revival of the brotherhood consciousness among the numerous ethnic
nationalities that make up the Republic of Biafra.
“As part of
the anniversary celebration of our 19 years of establishment, MASSOB resolved
to embark on prayers, supplications and sober reflections on Biafra
actualization and restoration.
“We are more
resolute and determined for the actualization and restoration of Biafra in
initiating more diplomatic and internationally recognized steps than involving
ourselves in frivolous activities that can’t restore Biafra.”
