Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri has singled out two of his players for praise after their 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Sarri
praised the performance of N’golo Kante and Jorginho after the win.
Chelsea
broke City’s Premier League unbeaten run this season on Saturday.
The Blues
rose from the disappointment of losing at Wolves in midweek to end City’s
21-game unbeaten league run.
Pep
Guardiola’s side were struck in the first half as N’Golo Kante fired high past
Ederson from Eden Hazard’s pass.
The Blues
improved after the break, securing the win with 12 minutes left when David
Luiz’s glancing header following a corner bounced in off the far post.
Speaking at
the post-match press conference, Sarri said, “I think that today he scored by
chance because they played very close to Jorginho more than in the other
matches,” talking about Kante.
“He defended
very well, some counters were good and he was in the box in the first goal but
I think that today he played in the right position, very close to Jorginho.
“Because we
were in trouble to put pressure to take defenders in the opponent half so we
had to defend in our half but it wasn’t a choice.
“We know
very well that the ball possession is usual for us, today was a problem and so
we knew very well that maybe there were more spaces for counters but it wasn’t
a total choice.”
