Manchester United legend Lou Macari slams Paul Pogba after altercation with fans at Old Trafford

Manchester United great Lou Macari has slammed Paul Pogba over the midfielder’s heated altercation with fans at Old Trafford following the side’s dismal defeat to Cardiff. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored a double for relegated Cardiff as United’s sorry Premier League campaign was brought to an end with a 2-0 defeat at home to Neil Warnock’s side.

The result meant OIe Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed just one win in their final seven matches of the season while ‘noisy neighbours’ Manchester City secured their second successive title with a 4-1 victory over Brighton.

United’s squad gave a lap of honour in the aftermath of the defeat and, while most were respectful towards the players, Pogba was on the receiving end of some abuse from a section of fans as he walked towards the tunnel.

One supporter could be heard telling Pogba to ‘have some f****** respect’ and the Frenchman stood listening before making a praying gesture with his hands and blowing a kiss in their direction. Discussing the clash on MUTV, United legend Macari said: ‘Oh come on, come on! I haven’t come here today to [see this].

‘If it was somebody else I’d pick on somebody else. Whoever it would be I’d be saying: “what are you thinking about?” ‘What’s this all about? Keep your strip on to start with… who else do you see with a strip off? When Macari was told that Pogba gave his shirt to a young United fan, he replied: ‘Well he shouldn’t do! He should get off the pitch and then send someone out with a strip. ‘It’s all about discipline. The discipline here under Sir Alex [Ferguson]…’ Pogba’s future is in serious doubt ahead of the summer transfer window after a mixed campaign for United with Real Madrid understood to be lining up a big-money move for the World Cup-winner.
